Hello Reader.
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been talking about thresholds and the sacred space between no longer and not yet.
It’s a place that can sometimes feel foggy, unsteady, or even uncomfortable . . . but it also holds immense possibility.
One of the most powerful ways I’ve found to tend this space is through ceremony.
Why Ceremony Matters During Times such as These
Ceremony creates a container.
It gives shape to the shapeless.
It allows us to pause, mark a moment, and step into what’s next with presence and intention.
Without it, thresholds can feel disorienting, and we may stumble through change without awareness.
The times we are living in are calling us to be even more awake in every facet of our life, to recognize these subtle moments and consciously move through them.
When we step into ceremony, we honor the moment . . . the good, the bad, the beautiful and the messy.
We claim where we have been and where we desire to move towards.
We anchor our energy into the knowing that something is shifting in our lives and as we bring awareness, we bring choice regarding how we move through that shift.
It is time to move through change with the light of love and awareness.
A Personal Story
I’ll never forget the last entry in the journal Chris and I kept during our camper years. We were camping on the shores of Lake Superior, and as the sun set, we realized we were ready for a new chapter.
I held a big smoky quartz crystal to my forehead and asked for support and guidance as we stepped into the unknown.
That small moment by the water, naming what was ending and opening to what was next was a ceremonial moment honoring the threshold we were crossing.
It wasn't elaborate, but it marked the passage, and I felt held as we crossed into something new.
Tomorrow is New Moon . . . a wonderful point of new beginnings, and a great time to sink into this Simple Sacred Practice.
If you are navigating your own in-between space, here’s a simple way to honor it:
- Select a stone or crystal that feels grounding to you.
- Sit quietly with it in your hands. Breathe deeply, feeling your body connect with the earth.
- Acknowledge what is ending. Whisper a thank you for what has brought you to this moment.
- Name what is calling. Even if you don’t know exactly what’s next, open your heart to it.
- Close with gratitude, and keep the stone near as a touchstone for the unfolding.
Sacred practice doesn’t need to be complicated.
It just needs your presence, your breath, & your willingness to honor what is.
A Soft Message to Close
Thresholds don’t always come with big announcements.
Sometimes, they arrive quietly.
But when we pause to mark them, they become portals — moments that shape us in ways we’ll only understand later.
If you are in the in-between right now, know this:
You are not drifting.
You are being carried.
And stepping into the sacred can help you remember that.
